Verified Purchase. I used this book in conjunction with a college class. Overall the book was helpful in teaching me basic Revit functions. It was a bit mucky to read though it.

The authors used strange terminology fly-out instead of drop-down menu was confusing. The book was also inconsistent on how it approached exercises. Sometimes the required actions were clearly marked and numbered and other times it was buried in paragraphs and again hard to understand the terminology. If learning on your own may not be a bad step by step guide. I found through following the text coupled with a student version of Revit Architecture to be very helpful in concentrating on the overall capabilities of the program.

This book is much more helpful than exploring the software on your own with no guidance. It is obvious that the authors are very well versed in the software and use it in a real world setting.

However, it is not written for someone new to CAD. Much of the vocabulary and nomenclature used in the text pertaining to computer aided drafting are not defined. If you are new to computer aided drafting this is not the book for you.

The underlying tone of the book assumes that you know AutoCAD well. Pros: Enough diagrams and pictures to show that you are understanding the text.
